The West Park Civic Association’s Art-in-the-Park returns to Allentown’s beautiful,
sylvan West Park. The show will feature original works of fine art and
crafts by 70+ artists from the Lehigh Valley and surrounding states. Please join
us for a delightful day and display your talent at this perennially-popular
event. The park is a treasure of Allentown’s historic West End and there is
always a good turnout of exhibitors and buyers. Free exhibition space will be
given to six high school students and six college students. The show will be organized
by a committee of volunteers chaired by art consultant/independent
scholar Dr. Christine Isabelle Oaklander. With the goal of raising the quality
and enhancing the appeal of the event, applicants will be vetted by Dr. Margo
Hobbs, Associate Professor and Chair of the Art Department, Muhlenberg College;
Dr. Christine Isabelle Oaklander; and Santa Bannon-Shillea, owner of
Santa Bannon/Fine Art gallery, Bethlehem, PA. Artist demonstrations in various
mediums will be offered throughout the day. Cash prizes will be offered in a
range of categories, with the winners selected by Lisa Tremper Hanover, retired
Executive Director & CEO of the James Michener Art Museum and Michiko
Okaya, Director, Lafayette College Art Galleries & Collections Curator. Live
performances will be provided throughout the day in the beautiful band shell. A new addition to our slate of entertainment is music by Tri City Tango from 3:00 to 5:00, with Tango Instruction from 3:00 to 3:30. Food and drink will be available from a range of vendors. Join us in West Park for a celebration of the expressive arts!  Please click on the links below for application information and instructions.

The Art Show will be held rain or shine.  In the event of rain it will move into the Church of the Mediator adjacent to the park and in a tent to be erected on church property.
